Compress Images Instantly and Safely

Shrink image file sizes for faster websites, easier uploads, and efficient storage, completely in-browser.

Deep-Dive Guide & Information

Format Definition

Image compression is the science of reducing an image file's footprint (in bytes) without noticeably degrading its visual quality. High-resolution images from phones or professional cameras can be massive (5MB to 20MB+), containing far more visual detail and metadata than necessary for standard sharing, email attachments, or web design.

Why Convert?

Giant image files clog up cloud storage, increase web hosting costs, slow down page loading times, and frequently hit attachment size limits on email and chat platforms. Compressing your images makes them incredibly easy to upload, share, and store while preserving their clarity and visual impact.

How It Works Locally

Our engine decodes your image, redraws it onto a canvas at your chosen dimensions, and re-encodes it with your chosen quality setting — all inside a background Web Worker. This keeps the browser's main thread free, so the page stays responsive while larger batches process.

Impact on Image Quality

We put you in complete control. You can adjust the quality slider to find the perfect sweet spot between file size and clarity. Our default 80% quality setting is a good starting point for most photos, keeping sharpness and color accuracy close to the original even on high-density Retina displays.

Guaranteed Privacy & Data Safety

We guarantee absolute security. This image compressor operates 100% locally in your web browser. Your images are never uploaded to any remote server or third-party database. Your private photos, confidential blueprints, and personal snapshots stay exclusively on your device.

Browser Support & Performance

Our local compression suite is fully compatible with modern web browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. By utilizing multi-threaded Web Workers, the tool leverages your CPU's multiple cores to compress several images in parallel very quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between lossy and lossless compression?
Lossy compression removes imperceptible visual data to achieve massive file size savings. Lossless compression compresses the file structure without removing any data, resulting in perfect pixel accuracy but modest space savings.
Will compressing my image change its width and height?
Not unless you want it to! Our advanced panel lets you optionally set a maximum width or height. If left empty, the image will retain its original pixel dimensions and only compress the data.
Does this compress HEIC files directly?
Yes! If you upload a HEIC file, our application will first decode the HEIC container locally and then let you compress and save it as a lightweight JPG or PNG.
